MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP

** PLEASE NOTE RATES HAVE BEEN REDUCED! **

Want a good acting class, but know that performance in front of an audience is the best teacher? Join us for our annual musical theatre workshops!

REDUCED RATES!
Over six years ago, our program began with just five children at a price of $450 per child! Now our program pulls over thirty per production and we've been able to reduce rates to just $250 per student per show (financial aid or payment plans may be available for your child!)
If you are interested in joining us for our next Production Workshop, please let us know right away. The second production workshop of the season will begin in January, 2010!

MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP Acting Class – Production workshops are specifically created to teach acting through hands on experiences – they are WORKSHOP classes that culminate in performance of a show. Show may change depending on rights availability. The 2009/2010 program runs Sundays between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Actors receiving principal roles will also be asked to attend up to five hours of outside rehearsal to work on their songs. Principal actors will be asked to spend an additional $100 for vocal work prep sessions. We attempt to schedule around conflicts where possible. All students who are accepted for enrollment will be cast in the production. Size of role is not guaranteed.
___ Acting Class Fee $250

___ Solo Work Extension Fee* (all students may sign up for extra vocal work – Principals will be required to sign up for this additional workshop session) $100
*Soloists requiring special instruction will be asked to enroll for additional vocal study. The fee for this additional study is $100 and sessions will be scheduled at the discretion of the student and the instructor.

PRODUCTION WORKSHOP Acting Class – Production workshops are specifically created to teach non-musical acting styles through hands on experiences. They are WORKSHOP classes that culminate in performance of a show. The 2009/2010 program runs Saturdays between 9 a.m. and noon (dates subject to change). Actors receiving principal roles may be asked to attend up to five hours of outside rehearsal to work on their roles. We attempt to schedule around conflicts where possible. Rehearsal schedule will be arranged after all conflicts are received. All students who are accepted for enrollment will be cast in the production. Size of role is not guaranteed.
___ Acting Class Fee $250

PLEASE NOTE ALL PERFORMANCE TRACK STUDENTS ARE ASKED TO SELL ONE $25 PROGRAM ADVERTISEMENT, ASSIST WITH STRIKE AND SET BUILD, AND ATTEMPT TO SELL TEN SHOW TICKETS AT $10 EACH.

In light of the current economy, we have reduced the workshop fees substantially and are now THE least expensive actor training program in the region. We do ask that each family donate at least six production assistance hours to help make productions run smoothly and to get all of the production elements completed for final production (set painting, building, costume construction or hunting, program creation, etc.) These assistance policies are what will make it possible for us to do fully staged final productions with the production workshop in the January 2010.

What's Coming Up in Spring

MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP
In the Spring, Vagabond Acting Troupe Youth Ensemble will be split over two OR three productions!
The program has been so successful, with so many youth participants, that the younger performers are ready for leading roles too!

The ensemble will offer opportunities to all auditioners to be cast in one of three different productions. Older students will be asked to audition in an appointment/callback format, while younger students will audition in an educational group approach. Productions under consideration include: A CHARM SCHOOL WITCH (for youth participants), GREASE (for older participants IF we have enough enrollment of teen males) or GUYS AND DOLLS (for older participants) and the possibility of a Shakespeare production of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM by William Shakespeare if we have a lot of non-singing actors interested in the program.

YOUTH ENSEMBLE IS AVAILABLE TO PERFORM FOR YOUR EVENT!

Vagabond Acting Troupe's Morgantown Youth Ensemble is our youth education group. The ensemble regularly presents performances in the community. If interested in bringing a youth ensemble performance to your organization or venue, please contact us! Organizations are asked to make a tax-deductible donation to the youth ensemble's scholarship program when they sponsor a performance, cabaret or presentation.

CABARET ENSEMBLE
Cabaret Ensemble is an invitational group that works on programs for community events and in support of the Vagabond Acting Troupe's educational program. All proceeds support the group's work and allow Vagabond Acting Troupe to never turn away a needy student due to lack of financial resources. Cabaret Ensemble meets at the discretion of the Executive Director and prepares programs around specific themes. Recent performances have included the Elverson Tree Lighting Ceremony and Christmas at Tel Hai performance in collaboration with Mixturez Dance Studio. Upcoming cabarets include SWEET DESSERTS - A Valentine Cabaret for Good Works. There is no fee for participation, but performers are required to sell tickets for the events and support the programs through volunteer efforts.

If interested in being considered for CABARET ENSEMBLE, students must first participate in Youth Musical Theatre, Acting and/or Cabaret workshops.

SHAKESPEARE YOUTH PROJECT

The Shakespeare Youth Project is an educational outreach project that brings youth performers to schools and community venues with the goal of sharing the works of William Shakespeare. The program is a BY AUDITION program. There is no fee for participation, but actors involved in the program are required to sell 10 tickets, program advertisements and assist with distribution of advertising materials. Organizations interested in bringing a Shakespeare program to their schools should contact the Vagabond Acting Troupe at vagabondactingtroupe@gmail.com.

CLASSROOM OPTION:
Please refer to our classroom schedule for potential options. Classes only run with sufficient enrollment. If interested in a class that is not currently running - students might consider forming a group of six participants. Special programs will be run for groups of 6 in any of our study areas. Vagabond Acting Troupe can also share classroom options with organizations outside our home region. Please email us for information!
